Sutton Weaver Swing Bridge - Acton Bridge Steam Rally 4 October 2025 via turn at Marsh Lock

Sutton Weaver Swing Bridge - Acton Bridge Steam Rally

Saturday 4th October 2025 | 10:00 – 13:00 cruise time plus 2 hours at Little Leigh Steam Rally

Join us for a memorable autumn cruise filled with history, scenery, and a touch of steam-powered nostalgia!

We set off at 10:00am from Sutton Weaver, cruising downstream to Marsh Lock before turning upriver once more. Our journey takes us through the Sutton Weaver Swing Bridge and passed some of the River Weaver’s most spectacular landscapes, on towards the charming Dutton Locks.

The final stage of our voyage brings us to Acton Swing Bridge – an engineering marvel of the 1930s. Despite its impressive size, the bridge pivots effortlessly with only a few horsepower, thanks to a clever floating pontoon design. While we won’t sail through it, this is our finishing point, where a wonderful celebration awaits…

The Little Leigh Steam Weekend

On arrival, step into tradition at this long-running rally, first established in the 1970s by the late Peter Froud. A firm favourite among steam enthusiasts (and once frequented by the late Fred Dibnah), the event brings together a collection of steam rollers and traction engines in the car park of the Leigh Arms pub.

Your return coach to Sutton Weaver will leave around two hours after arrival at 1500 hrs, giving you time to explore the rally, enjoy the atmosphere, and perhaps sample a classic pint of Robinsons Ale before heading home.

What’s Included

  • Complimentary tea or coffee on boarding
  • A hearty bowl of our famous Danny Scouse for lunch
(vegetarian option available – please request when booking
