Anderton Boat Lift and back turning at Acton Bridge Saturday 23rd May 11:00 - 14:30

Saturday 23rd May 2026 | 11:00 -14:30

Set sail on a delightful cruise from our berth just below the iconic Anderton Boat Lift, and enjoy a scenic journey along the River Weaver. We’ll cruise to our turning point at Acton Bridge via Saltersford Lock before gliding back to our starting point at Anderton.

A little history for our curious cruisers: the Anderton Boat Lift, opened in 1875, was built to transfer narrowboats a whopping 50ft between the River Weaver and the Trent & Mersey Canal. Nowadays, it mostly welcomes pleasure craft and stands as a scheduled monument and award-winning visitor attraction. While our boat is too big to ride the lift itself, you’ll enjoy fantastic views of this engineering marvel during the cruise. Don’t forget—souvenir guidebooks are available on board for just £5. You can also find more details about the cruise route at https://www.thedanny.co.uk/map

Parking: Available at the Anderton Boat Lift car park (CW9 6FW), with standard charges applying.  Please aim to arrive at the car park by 10:30 and on board by 10:45

⚠️ Access note
Access to the Danny’s berth at Anderton Boat Lift is via a steep, step-free path from the visitor centre and car park, which may be challenging for guests with mobility difficulties
